RE:Appalachian Power Company Smith Mountain Project No. 2210 Application for New License Meeting Notice
Dear Sir or Madame:
On behalf of Appalachian Power Company (Appalachian), we are notifying you along with the others listed on the attached Distribution List of the meeting scheduled for Wednesday August 20, 2003 to discuss Appalachian’s plans for applying for a new license from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) for the Smith Mountain Project located on the Roanoke River in south central Virginia. The scheduled meeting represents the third meeting regarding the relicensing of the Smith Mountain Project. The last meeting was held on May 14, 2003.
The meeting is to be held at American Electric Power Company’s Rocky Mount Service Center located in Rocky Mount, Virginia. Directions to the meeting site are attached as is the agenda for the meeting. Lunch will be served to all attendees, therefore it would be appreciated if all invitees were to notify me by e-mail at fmsimms@aep.com or phone call to the number shown below at least two weeks prior to the meeting date of their intention to attend.

DIRECTIONS TO ROCKY MOUNT SERVICE CENTER
American Electric Power’s Rocky Mount Service Center is located at the intersection of Routes 122 and 40 in Rocky Mount, Virginia.
From Bedford, Virginia, take Route 122 to its intersection with Route 40 in Rocky Mount. Go straight at the traffic signal into the parking lot for the Service Center.
From Roanoke, Virginia, take Route 220 south to the second Rocky Mount exit. Take a right at the traffic signal at the end of the exit onto Route 40 and proceed east to the intersection of Routes 40 and 122. That intersection is the first traffic signal after you pass WalMart. At the intersection, take a right turn into the Service Center parking lot.
From Richmond, Virginia, take Route 360 west until it intersects with Route 40 near Keysville, Virginia. Follow Route 40 west to Rocky Mount, Virginia. At the intersection of Routes 40 and 122, take a left turn into the Service Center parking lot.
